Last night's show at the SODO nightclub in Colorado Springs was exceptional. It was the first show of the tour with Kevin Traynor on guitar, so it was really the first show with the whole band. I have to say I'm pretty blown away by the Troubadours. They have one serious edge over Blues Traveler; their vocal harmonies are outstanding. Popper was at the very top of his game. SOME minor voice cracks from the altitude, but overall his voice sounded stronger than it has in years. I think the surgery did the trick! Opening acts were The Genuwines (local bluegrass quartet, very good) and Lisa Bouchelle (awesome as usual). Setlist below. Asterisk indicates songs where Lisa Bouchelle sat in. I must say I was tickled pink to hear "Hurdy Gurdy Fandango" brought out of retirement. It's good to hear an old Frogwings tune getting a little love!
Something Sweet
All the way down
A lot like you
But anyway
Bereft
Champipple
(Aaron Beavers song, don't know the title)
Love has made it so
Mountains win again
Hurt so much
(Jono Manson song, don't know the title)
Make it Better
Hurdy Gurdy Fandango
End of the line
Don't tread on me
Encore:
What can I do for you
Only the tequila talking*
Run around*
