POPPER IS A JERK!!!!!
I ASKED HIM NICELY FOR HIS AUTOGRAPH AFTER LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC FOR ALMOST 18 YEARS AND WHAT DID HE TELL ME???? "SORRY MAN I AM WORKING", THAT WAS TOTALLY DEVASTATING TO ME, I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS GUY FOR EVER AND THAT'S WHAT HE DOES TO ME!!!! UNBELIEVABLE....... I LIVED I COSTA RICA WHEN I STARTED LISTENING, ALWAYS THOUGHT OF HOW NICE IT WOULD BE TO MEET HIM, CAME HERE, CONTINUED TO LISTEN, WENT TO HIS SHOW, HAD MY HARMONICA WITH ME, WANTED HIM TO SIGN IT......... THAT'S JUST FUCKED UP.... I MEAN HE WAS RIGHT THERE SITTING 5 FEET FROM ME...... SO F... PISSED, SHAME ON YOU POPPS

MemberJohn and all of BT have been GREAT as far as being there for the fans. I have never had a problem with speaking and meeting any of the band... Maybe John was working...maybe he was having a tough day...don't give up on a band that is there for you when they can be. It may seem lame to you but there may have been a good reason. Best of luck to you at future shows! Try and tweet JP and he may surprise you :) Great dude ....great Band...And they have Gina too :)

you are all so lucky ... i never had the chance meeting the band ... but i think, in 2012 i will ... when they might come to europe! ... then it doesnt matter to me, if Popper doesnt sign my harmonicas or posters or cd's or or or ;) ... maybe that dream becomes reality :)

MemberIf you want to listen to someone who's also really great at harmonica, but isn't a jerk then you should check out G. Love! I met him once and he was really nice so no disappointment there. He's got some really unique music that blends blues and funk with hip-hop and rock type stuff. He's been my favorite musician and a huge inspiration for years now. You may actually know about him from when he collaborated with Blues Traveler on their album Cover Yourself. His newest album is more of a roots album and it totally kicks ass. MemberI just saw John Popper (JPDT) in Atlanta last Friday night 4-15-11. He was awesome. He interfaced with the crowd the entire show and the band came out afterwards to shake hands, take pictures and sign autographs. The entire band was only too happy to speak, talk and sign with anyone.
You had to of caught John on a bad day because he was a genuinely nice guy. I even seen him hug one of the fans.
Popper, you're the greatest. Keep up the great work and PLEASE come back to ATL again soon! BTW He threw out 2 Harmonicas at the end of the show and I caught one of them!

MemberThe guy has been a complete gentleman to me on the few ocassions(blackjack table,green room, bachelor party) Ive had to visit with him. In fact the entire band, crew, Gina and everyone involved has repeatedly gone outta thier way to accomodate whatever retarted rock n roll fantasy I had in mind, within reason.

I call your bluff. Further, I think you fabricated the whole situation to get Popper to somehow make it up to you, like that guy he was supposed to meet in the graveyard, never did, then finally drove a couple hours out of his way just to meet him. I believe that guy either posted a message or wrote an article.
Speaking of which, I hate John Popper too! He is a jerk! He promised me a million dollars and never gave me anything. He also promised to clean up after my dog, buy me a house with a beautiful back yard, and put my kids (which I don't have yet) through college. I am so angry! I swear I will never listen to Blues Traveler again, unless.....

MemberI've seen John and the rest of BT interact with fans MANY times. And I've never seen any impatience, rudeness or disrespect. I've also watched how SO many people want a piece of them...pictures, autographs, handshakes, hugs kisses...it's not easy being a rock star ya know.

MemberWe was very nice to me as well. If this actually did happen then it's an oddity. That's the price of fame my friends. No one can be on their game 24/7 and sometimes it just isn't practical to stop and sign. Unfortunately you can be wonderful to 1000 people in a row but person 1001 that you offend for whatever reason sees you as a jerk. He could of been busy, could have been a bad moment, could have been distracted, could have been a misunderstanding, could have been anything. But from my experience and the other responses here it certainly doesn't seem like a pattern, just a bad moment. Hell, John just finished a show sick as hell with food poisoning and still took the time to be nice to me and my family. The whole band was wonderful especially Brendan Hill and John.

We're only getting one side of the story here. He's been nice to me and, from what I'm reading here, he's been nice to other people. Have someone come up to you and get in your face when you're working and see how you like it. It's creepy and annoying.
