Blues Traveler Rocks Across America in Support of Boys & Girls Clubs
Band hopes to inspire youth, provide awareness and fundraising support

ATLANTA (Aug. 17, 2010) – Blues Traveler, one of America’s enduring rock bands, is proud to announce its support in helping Boys & Girls Clubs of America fulfill its mission and inspire kids to “BE GREAT.” While on tour, the band plans to visit nearby Boys & Girls Clubs to inspire creativity, share personal challenges and successes, and even shoot hoops with Club members. The band also will arrange for Club members to attend private VIP afternoon sound checks on select tour stops.

“We’re trying to create opportunities for kids who have the potential to succeed, but may need a little extra inspiration,” says John Popper, frontman and harmonica-slinger of Blues Traveler. “Boys & Girls Clubs do that everyday for America’s youth, and we are committed to making sure our dedicated fans know about it and support Clubs as well.”

In addition to its work with local Boys & Girls Clubs and youth, the band will attract support for young people through its website, www.bluestraveler.com, Facebook fan page and other fan outlets, encouraging visitors to support local Boys & Girls Clubs. The group will also share stories and photos from their Club visits.

“By discovering their true interests and talents and working hard, our Boys & Girls Club members can truly BE GREAT, just like the talented members of Blues Traveler,” said Evan McElroy, senior vice president, Marketing & Communications for BGCA. “We are excited about Blues Traveler’s commitment to giving back and look forward to working together to create opportunities for our Boys & Girls Club members.
